The National Temple of Saint Jude Thaddeus or Saint Jude Parish (originally known as EspÃÆ'ritu Saint Chinese Parish ), is one of three established Chinese parishes by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila in Metro Manila, Philippines.
The temple has a novena service every Thursday to Saint Jude, whose traditional color is green. The annual party is held every October 28, Saints Jude Thaddeus and Simon the Zealot. The temple is very popular among learners and people who review for board inspections, because Judas Judas is considered the patron saint of hopeless cases.
The temple is located on J.P. Laurel Street, San Miguel, Manila within the Malaca Town Hall Complex. The current parish priest and temple chancellor are Pdt. Fr. Linus E. Nicasio, SVD. He is assisted by Rev. Christopher Ramirez, SVD and Rev. Fr. Yuhang Antonio Wang, SVD.

History
âââ ⬠<â â¬
The Chinese presence in the Philippines is back centuries. During the Spanish occupation of the Philippines, the Dominicans built their abode near the Sangleys houses (from Hokkien Sengli, "business" or "commerce"). The evangelization of the Chinese began in 1588 but the Chinese uprising during the eighteenth century resulted in the placement of Chinese ministries under secular priests, which led to the attachment of the Chinese parish to the Binondo Parish until 1954.
As the Chinese community swelled during that period, the Binondo Parish (the only Chinese parish in Manila), was considered inadequate. Thus, the faculty to set up three other Chinese parishes was obtained by Archbishop Rufino Santos of the Roman Congregation Session on July 23, 1954. The three parishes will be stationed in the Paco district of Manila, Pasay and northeast of Metro Manila or Quezon City.

Altitude to national temple and 21st century
St. Jude Parish became a territorial parish on June 20, 1986, and was separated from the San Miguel parish. It was renamed "Archdiocese of Saint Jude Thaddeus" on June 21, 1994, following a petition by Msgr. Peter Tsao and parishioners, and as a result of the growing number of enthusiasts who visited the shrine on Thursday for the weekly novena service.
During the Pdt. Fr. Roland Aquino, SVD as parish priest and rector of the temple, in February 2010, the temple was raised as a national temple through the establishment decisions issued by the President of CBCP and Tandag Bishop Nereo Odchimar. Increasing the status of the Archdiocese Temple Jude Thaddeus into the national temple was unanimously approved by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) in its 100th plenary session on 23 January.
Manila Archbishop Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales authorized a petition to the CBCP which assures "that all canonical and liturgical requirements for the upgrading of a status into a National Temple have been fulfilled."
In 2014, during the last year Fr. Roland Aquino, SVD as parish priest and rector of the temple, Shrine celebrated its 60th Anniversary. Celebrations and activities for the 60th anniversary of the temple were launched on February 2, 2014, by Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Archbishop of Manila. Thursday Novena
Weekly Novena to St. Jude started in June 1959 and has been held every Thursday since then. The allegiance has spread over the years and has become very popular in Metro Manila, with enthusiasts including students, test examiners, office workers, parishes and all walks of life.
Thursday is always a busy day, with sermons, confessions, and counseling that form an important part of the job. Masses and novena are scheduled every hour of the day from morning to evening. Large crowds flood the church into the church yard every Thursday. As a result, the church was granted the St. Judean Archbishop title on June 21, 1994.

The modern whale has made it a point to make the long journey to the Catholic Philippines, the bastion of Christianity in Southeast Asia, at least once in their pontificate. The Philippines has received four whale visits in the 45-year span.
In 1970, Pope Paul VI came as a missionary whale and visited the slums of Manila.
A decade later, Pope John Paul II came to raise the Filipino proto-martyr, Lorenzo Ruiz, to the ranks of "Blessed".
John Paul II returned in 1995 to dialogue with young people for World Youth Day 1995 in Manila, and in the process attracted the largest human gathering in history (before 2015) when he preached the message of Christ's salvific mission. For Filipinos, the papal visit has been a source of joy, strength and, most importantly, hope.
As the world's smallest sovereign state and governor, the Vatican City State is officially welcomed by the President of the Philippines into the Philippine government seat, MalacaÃÆ'à ± an Palace, the official residence and principal place of business of the President of the Republic of the Philippines.
Since the temple is near the MalacaÃÆ' à ± an Palace (and actually inside the MalacaÃÆ' à ± an Complex), the Pope who visits the Philippines in their Pope Drivers usually passes in front of St. Jude Thaddeus before reaching the MalacaÃÆ' à ± an Palace for an official welcoming ceremony by the President of the Philippines.

Hymn
There are several songs and hymns used at the Temple during Thursday's devotion that can easily be found in novena books.
The ones below, which are not included in the booklet, were prepared during and for the 60th Shrine Memorial and since then, are often sung after mass or novena in the temple for recession.
With a happy heart we sing this song for you
Our beloved Santa, Jude Thaddeus, our patron saint,
With your help and intercession, God has heard our cry and petition
We are grateful that we have you, Saint Jude, we are one in you
We are grateful that we have you, Saint Jude, we are one in you
