volcanism in Pennsylvania
My hobby is geology so that everytime I work, I ask my colleagues to bring me unusual rocks from their farm or yard. I do this to better understand the geological history of the region. One of my co-wowrkers recently brought me several pieces of volcanic glass known as obsidian. I told him that this must be "exotic", which means they were transported here by glacier activity or someone might have dumped a box of western US rocks in the local river. He says these stones are strewn across the streams, so "exotic" may not be the right description of their origins. I researched and found no mention of recent volcanism (less than 20,000 years ago) in Central Pennsylvania, and they may actually have originated from local volcanism, with or without the actual eruption. There are lots of sand dunes here, so "clean" volcanic glass is a possibility. I asked for some more samples and noticed some unbreakable glass bubbles inside, more than eight millimeters in diameter. Old obsidian bubbles will break with frozen water and break the fragile rock. I made several requests for personal visits to this location and brushed each time. If anyone should find an obsidian in central Pennsylvania and would not mind geologists looking at the area, please reply. Have you considered that this might "glass" form an old iron stove? I have seen many pieces of glass slag from an old stove and it resembles an obsidian. Probably the source of your glass. - Unmarked comments previously added by 12.186.80.1 (talk) 10:34, May 10, 2010 (UTC)
Churchill (Area) High School Transfer to Woodland Hills
Why did Churchill High School/Churchill Area High School divert to Woodland Hills? Churchill HS is a separate historical entity. For me, it seems more appropriate to have a 'past' article on former secondary schools and school districts that will connect with current WH and HS districts. Is this just a matter of someone writing an article about CAH? I was quite surprised to find almost no reference or any historical context in the WH section especially as there is quite a lot of very important history going on here.

Biography Without Biography of Living People
WikiProject Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons (UBLPs) aims to reduce the number of undrefered biographical articles to below 30,000 by June 1, especially by allowing WikiProjects to easily identify UBLP articles within their project scope. There were more than 52,000 BLPs not referenced in January 2010 and this has been reduced to 35,715 on 1 May. Now bots run every day to compile a list of all articles in both categories: All BLPs are not referenced and have been tagged by WikiProject. Note that bots do NOT place unreferenced tags or assign articles to projects - this has been done by others before - it just compiles lists.
Your Project List can be found on Wikipedia: WikiProject Pennsylvania/BLP Without Reference. You currently have about 193 articles to refer. List of other projects can be found in Users: DASHBot/Wikiprojects/Templates and Users: DASHBot/Wikiprojects.
Your help in reviewing and referencing this article is highly appreciated. If you have any questions, feel free to ask either at WT: URBLP or on my talk page. Thanks, The-Pope (talk) 17:08, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

National Banking Act (1863) show only the PNC Financial Services Group
I believe Wikipedia articles should not give an advantage to an individual income-making organization, but the overall impression of reading the "National Banking Act", page 1863 does this by simply listing PNC at the bottom. I believe it should be removed until there is a determination made for the relevant bank list to describe or advance someone's understanding of the NBA. If there is any other major consideration for this single listing, please let me know.

Warning article
This is a notification to let you know about the article alerts , a fully automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforce when articles include Articles to delete, Requests for comments, peer reviews and other workflows (full list). Reports are updated daily, and provide a brief summary of what's happening, with links relevant to discussion or results where possible. A certain level of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have a deletion discussion included in the report, and so on. Examples of customized reports can be found here.
If you've subscribed to Warning Articles , it's now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which will inform the project about ongoing discussions at the wikipedia-wide level, and other interesting things. Developers also note that some WikiProjects and Taskforce subscriptions use display = none
parameters, but forget to link to their warning page. Your warning page should be placed in "Wikipedia: PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article warning". Questions and feedback should be left at the Wikipedia talk: Warning article.

- Bushy Run Battlefield (NHL)
- Conrad Weiser House (NHL)
- Fort Pitt Museum
- Joseph Priestley House (NHL)

GA Sweeps Invite
This message is sent to WikiProjects with GAs in scope. Since August 2007, WikiProject Good Articles has participated in GA sweeps . This process helps ensure that articles that have passed the nomination before that date meet GA criteria. After nearly two years, total runs just past the 50% mark. To speed up the review, some changes have been made to the process. A new work list has been created, detailing which articles should be reviewed. Instead of reviewing by topic, editors may consider selecting and selecting articles they are interested in.
We are always looking for new members to help review the remaining articles, and since this project has GAs in scope, it would be useful if one of its members could review some articles (probably your project articles). Your project members are likely to be more knowledgeable about the GAs of your topic, then become an outside observer. As a result, reviewing your project articles will improve the quality of reviews in ensuring that they meet your project concerns about resources, content, and guidelines. However, members may also review other articles in the work list to ensure they meet GA criteria.
If any interested members, visit the GA sweep page for details and further instructions on getting started. If you want to join the process, please add your name to the total page that is running. In addition, for every member who reviews 100 articles from the work list or has a significant impact on the process, he or she will get an award when they reach that threshold. With ~ 1300 articles left for review, we will appreciate any editor who can contribute in helping to uphold GAs quality. If you have questions about the process, review, or need help with certain articles, please contact me or OhanaUnited and we'll be happy to help. - Edit live! Townships in Pennsylvania
After discussing this issue with User: Ruhrfisch, I am taking a conversation here for more ideas. Apparently about a year ago there was a discussion about renaming cities [empty] Township, [blank] County, Pennsylvania because there were a number of duplicates. I strongly oppose this, because it is so overwhelming. It is also not mentioned on Wikipedia: Naming conventions (geographical names), which suggest settlements (such as towns) to be in simple Township [blank], form Pennsylvania if no duplicates. talk / contribs / editor reviews ) ~ 00:37, August 19, 2010 (UTC)

The new PAhistoric infobox template
For anyone interested in creating or editing an article on a historic Pennsylvania or landmark site, I have created a new historic Pennsylvania infobox modeled at the National Registry of Historic Placesinfobox. Infobox is intended for state or local historic sites and landmarks that are not registered in the national registry, but are set as historic by Pennsylvania and/or regional and local authorities and organizations. Like the NRHP infobox, the PAhistoric infobox will place a color-coded banner that signifies the historical significance of the subject at the top of the infobox, can handle both local Pittsburgh designations already fully covered in Wikipedia articles/lists, and also provide the ability for other fully customizable local designations. Pennsylvania Plants
There are many articles of plants with the names of Latin species, which have the Pennsylvania Pennsylvania template, but often no other country templates, although they are found in many northeastern states, and even to Canada and as far south as Georgia. My question is whether the Pennsylvania template should be applied to such articles altogether. What do the other editors think? --DThomsen8 (talk) 00:12, August 25, 2010 (UTC)

Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB keys, DVDs and mobile phones. Articles are selected based on assessed importance and quality, then article version (revisionID) is selected for trust (free from vandalism) using the adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.
We'd like to ask you to review the Pennsylvania article and the revisions we have selected. The selected article is marked with a diamond symbol (?) To the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have incorrectly entered or removed the article, please contact us at Wikipedia: Version 0.8 with details. You may want to look at your WikiProject article with a cleanup tag and try to improve anything that needs to be fixed; if you do, please give us a new revisionID at the Wikipedia talk: Version 0.8. We want to complete this consultation period at midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.
We have greatly simplified the process since the release of Version 0.7, so we aim to have a collection that is ready to be distributed by the end of October 2010. As a result, we plan to distribute the wider collection, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools expanding the reach of Wikipedia around the world. Please help us, with your WikiProject feedback!

Wikipedia bicara: Artikel untuk pembuatan/Philadelphia School of Circus Arts
Hi, can anyone see this 'article for creation', Wikipedia: Articles for creation/Philadelphia School of Circus Arts. If you can help tidy it up and, if acceptable, move it to the live article, that would be great. Thanks, ChzzÃ, Ã,? 03:36, October 5, 2010 (UTC)
Uninteresting photos representing Dickson City on Wikipedia
I'm sure many agree that there are many beautiful places in Dickson City PA, but the photo representing our Borough to the world on wikipedia is less than flattering. It shows the gloomy world of Main Street photos with tonsones of old garbage piled on the front yard. Can someone please do something about this photo? Our city's reputation is worth the effort. Wikipedia can be edited publicly but I do not have the skills to do it myself. I'm willing to take a new photo of myself if necessary. thank youÃ, :) - Unsigned comments added by Midvmom (talk o contribs) 20:05, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
- I agree that the image should be changed, and edit the article for some general improvements. The license for the image looks legit so I do not delete it. We had to go for the general scene, which did not change from week to week. All is One (talk) 14:35, 30 October 2010 (UTC)

Collaboration with Wine Project in Pennsylvania wine article?
Hello! For 2011, Wine Project does a new Wine Improvement Drive where each month we focus on an area of ââarticles related to a particular theme. In January, we rang in the New Year with New World wines, focusing on grapes from Northern Hemisphere-Canadian wines, American wines, and Mexican wines. I will go by related projects to see if there is any interest in the collaboration between this project and the wine project on the Pennsylvania wine subject Some suggestions on potential article creations/extensions include major Pennsylvania wine articles, AVAC Central Delaware Valley, AVA Valley Cumberland, AVA Lake Erie, AVA Valley Lancaster, Lehigh Valley AVA Chaddsford Winery. And, of course, GREAT help will be uploading free photo usage from Pennsylvania wineries, wine and wine regions to the Commons that can be used to better illustrate the Pennsylvania wine article. If you are interested in helping, please drop the note on the Wine Project talk page with the articles you are interested in. Thank you and happy New Year! U.S. Collaboration is re-enabled & amp; Portal: The United States starts next
Casliber recently sent a suggestion on the talk page for WikiProject USA about regaining the US Wikipedians Collaboration page in an effort to create an article for GA through the FA class. See Wikipedia: US. Wikipedians'//USCOTM announcement board. After several days of work from him the page is ready and ready for action. Some candidates have been added for you to select or you can submit them using the instructions provided. If you are looking for inspiration here is a link to the most frequently viewed articles currently under the scope of Wikiproject United States. There are many good articles on various US related projects as well so please do not hesitate to submit any articles related to US topics (not just within the scope of WPUS). The Noticeboard is intended for '' 'All' '' editors who work for US subjects, not just those who are under WPUS.
The next item I want to start updating is Portal: United States if anyone is interested to help. Again this is not specific to WPUS and any help will be greatly appreciated to maximize the visibility of US topics. Foundations have just established the matter of updating the content with some new images, biographies and articles. Please leave a comment on the Portal talk page or let me know if you have any questions or ideas. --Kumioko (talk) 19:22, January 15, 2011 (UTC)

Pennsylvania tidak memiliki class = Book atau class = Redirect
Pennsylvania has no class = Book or class = Redirect displayed in summary of Pennsylvania article tables by quality and importance. View Wikipedia: WikiProject Pennsylvania/Assessment. I want those classes to be displayed. I have asked how this can be done in Wikipedia talk: Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Index # Questions about Books and Redirects. I would ask other Pennsylvania project members if they also want these classes included. Also, as a technical issue, I do not know how to make changes, so I hope there are other editors who know how to do it. Comments, please! - DThomsen8 (talk) 14:13, February 21, 2011 (UTC)

A very interesting tool from the Wikimedia Toolserver is called the WikiProject Wiki page. This list is similar to a list of project-related articles such as the U. S. articles list used to generate assessment statistics. List of Popular pages includes rankings, view count, daily average views, quality and importance ratings for registered articles. The following is a complete list of projects using a list of popular pages. A FAQ is also available on the User FAQ page: Mr.Z-man/Popular.
Recently I added a link to a list of popular pages as shown below to the US Portal - a WikiProjects box and a nomination section for each selected article box.
Portal: United States/Project/Popular Pages
Since this project is not included, I am raising the popular page tool here. This tool makes it very easy to track three of the four balancing dimensions when selecting articles to display on the portal - quality, importance, and popularity. When tracking the fourth dimension, topic, related article list tool (such as for the US article list tool) might also be useful by filtering out interested categories.
If you decide to use this tool, do not hesitate to update Portal: USA/Project/Popular pages as well.

ERROR! about Pennsylvania Dutch as the language
I live in Center County, which has a large Amish population (though not as big as Lancaster, but remains great). I happen to know that amish children speak only Pennsylvania Dutch. They are not taught English until they are older. The article in the Dutch Pensylvania claims that only some of the older Amish who speak the language. Wikipedia: WikiProject National Register of Historic Places/Fall 2011 Photo Contest
WP: NRHP held a Fall Photo Contest from October 21-Dec. 4, 2011. I want to encourage anyone who likes photography, and anyone who is interested in historic places to participate as a photographer, sponsor, or both.
One way for an editor or project to participate is to sponsor their own challenges. For example, someone here might want to include challenges such as "A barnstar will be awarded to photographers who add most of the photos from an NRHP site that was not previously illustrated in Pennsylvania to the NRHP region list." To sponsor a challenge, all you need to do is create an idea, post it on the contest page, and do a little bit of work necessary to judge the winner.
Any and all contributions are appreciated.

Speedwell Forge
The Speedwell Forge article has a number of short biographies of the ironmasters at that location, and lede suggests to break it down into individual articles. I'm not sure there's enough information about those people to justify individual articles, but I'm posting here with suggestions that maybe some other editors might be interested in pursuing the possibilities. --DThomsen8 (talk) 13:39, January 5, 2012 (UTC)
SMA Bald Eagle Nittany
The existing Wikipedia entry for Bald Eagle Nittany High School is very short. No photo (I can send one of the current buildings, and a sign for "Ben Avenue.") For sports, it speaks primarily about wrestling, which almost excludes everything that goes on in Ben's high school. I do not understand why there is even a title for "Trajectory and Field," because there is no Trajectory and Field in SMA BEN. The area for the recorded alumni seems to be written by 1-3 people who all know each other. Is there any way to fix it?
