In the United States, the organ-procurement organization (OPO) is a non-profit organization that is responsible for the evaluation and procurement of donor organs that have died for organ transplants. There are 58 such organizations in the United States, each responsible for the procurement of organs in certain areas, and each member of the Procurement of Organs and Transplantation Networks (OPTN), a federal mandate network created by and supervised by the United Network for Organ Sharing UNOS). Individual OPOs represent the front line of organ procurement, having direct contact with hospitals and families of recently deceased donors. After the OPO receives approval from the family of the deceased, it works with UNOS to identify the best candidates for available organs, and coordinate with the surgical team for each organ recipient.

The OPO is also charged with educating the public to raise awareness and participation in organ donation processes.
