Lacey Nicole Sturm (nÃÆ' Â © e Mosley , formerly Carder , born September 4, 1981) is an American singer and songwriter from Homestead, Florida , grew up in Arlington, Texas. He is one of the founders and former lead vocalist of the hard rock band Flyleaf. In February 2016, Sturm became the first solo woman to occupy the album charts of Hard Rock Albums with his debut release.

Early life and education

Sturm was an atheist before becoming a Christian. He had thought of suicide and then ended up in a church where a man talked to him about what he believed to be the words of God, which led him to become a Christian.

Careers

Flyleaf

In 2000, Sturm began playing with drummer James Culpepper. The pair worked with guitarists Sameer Bhattacharya and Jared Hartmann. In 2002, Pat Seals, the current Flyleaf bassist, merged, forming a group called Passerby . For legal reasons, they changed their name to Flyleaf in June 2004.

Sturm provides backing vocals on "Run to You" and "Born Again", two tracks on the third rock album of Kristen Kristen 2008 . Sturm received a pair of Grammy nominations at the 52nd Grammy Awards for his work with Third Day: "Born Again" was nominated for Best Gospel Song and Best Gospel Performance.

Sturm also worked with Apocalyptica on their song "Broken Pieces" and with Orianthi on the song "Courage."

Sturm recorded the song, "Heavy Prey", for the Underworld: Awakening soundtrack.

On October 22, 2012, shortly before the release of New Horizons , Sturm revealed that he had left Flyleaf peacefully. The album was nominated for the 2012 Rock Album of the Year Dove Award.

Sturm revealed on his website in September 2013 that he signed a publishing deal with Baker Publishing Group. His first book was released in 2014 and the second is scheduled for release in October 2016.

The Whosoevers

The Whosoevers is a movement driven by what the founders see as an extraordinary need to encourage individuals and speak the goals into the lives of millions of people around the world. The nonprofit organization was founded in 2009 as a collaboration between Sonny Sandoval, Ryan Ries, and Brian "Head" Welch with a view to making a positive impact on music, skateboarding and art culture today. The ambassadors included Sturm, Annie Lobert, freestyle freestyle athlete Ronnie Faisst, and Islander band vocalist Mikey Carvajal.

Sturm has a role in the worldwide video Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, The Cross , released in November 2013. Lecrae and Sturm share a video in honor of Graham's 95th birthday. Personal life

On September 6, 2008, he married Joshua Sturm, guitarist for the Kairos band, from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The couple had two sons together.
