Burbank-South Airport (formerly Burbank-Bob Hope Airport ) is an Amtrak and Metrolink train station that has no merchandise at Hollywood Burbank Airport in the city of Burbank, California. It is served by Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner from San Luis Obispo to San Diego and Metrolink's Ventura County Line from Los Angeles Union Station to east Ventura. Ten Pacific Surfliner trains serving the station daily and 29 Metrolink trains serving the station each weekday connect arrival from the airport to downtown Los Angeles' Union Station in about 30 minutes. Amtrak's Coast Starlight that travels between Seattle, Washington and Los Angeles also stops here.

Free airport shuttle transports passengers to and from the terminal area during airport operation hours, although the station is a short walk from the terminal. Metrolink operates several trains as transport from Burbank Airport's Hollywood station to Los Angeles Union Station with a mid-sized stop in downtown Burbank and Glendale station.

Of the 76 California stations serviced by Amtrak, Burbank is the 28th busiest in FY2017, with 73,814 total passengers.

Ticketing

This station contains Metrolink and Amtrak ticket machines; However, tickets to and from downtown LA (Union Station), and all intermediate stations, are accepted on both Metrolink and Amtrak trains as part of the Rail2Rail program. Similarly, passengers with valid Amtrak tickets between Hollywood Burbank and Union Station can also use it for transportation on the Metrolink train.

History

The station opened in February 1983 as a filling station on the short-lived CalTrain line. This will see less than one month of use by this service.

The station is part of a new intermodal transportation center approved by the Burbank city council at the end of August 2010. The facility costs around $ 93 million. The breakthrough occurred during the summer of 2012 and construction is completed in summer 2014. It caters to train, air and bus travelers, as well as incorporates rental car facilities.
