Histori

The Hope Project was established in 2003 at the height of the Second Palestinian Intifada. It was co-founded by three Nablus-born citizens, Sabbah Judge, Salem Hantoli and Samah Atout, along with Canada's Jeremy Wildeman who, while volunteering in West Bank education in 2002, were trapped in violence. He returned to Nablus in 2003 to help solve the humanitarian crisis in his own way, by overcoming the educational shortages and the toughest opportunities facing young people there. When Wildeman later told the Toronto Star, he returned with nothing more than an idea, and a group of volunteers. The idea is to provide educational opportunities to children who because of humanitarian crises caused by the conflict are denied their basic rights under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child 1989 to 'learn, grow and grow' in safe and supportive of the Living environment. He worked with three Nablus to fulfill this purpose in accordance with their shared vision. Samah Atout spent his formative years as a student who endured the horrors of the Second Intifada and wanted to do something for his community - community-led rather than by donors with a conflicting political agenda. Judge Sabeh emphasized the cultural aspects of educational work in Nablus, as well as providing an open class for as many communities in Nablus Governate, including refugee camps and villages around Nablus. According to Hope Project mission statement, their goal is to support and empower Palestinian youth through learning, the same principle that guides current work.
