Norwalk Hospital is a nursing care nursing education hospital at Hill Hospital in Norwalk, Connecticut. The hospital serves a population of 250,000 in the lower Fairfield County, Connecticut. The hospital has more than 500 physicians on its active medical staff, and 2,000 health workers and support personnel. The hospital is part of the Western Connecticut Health Network, which includes two other hospitals - Danbury Hospital and New Milford Hospital - in Western Connecticut.

The hospital was awarded the HealthGrades Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence in 2010, 2011 and 2012. HealthGrades, an independent health care ratings organization, analyzed Medicare data for three years and determined that Norwalk Hospital tops the top five percent of all hospitals national for clinical excellence. This top-level hospital was discovered by HealthGrades to statistically lower patient mortality and lower inhospital complications than other hospitals.
Norwalk Hospital also offers specialized centers and weight loss surgery, sleep disorders, wound care and hyperbaric drugs. Norwalk Hospital manages and operates the 911 ambulance service for Norwalk and provides paramedical services to the cities of Wilton, Weston, Westport, and New Canaan.
Norwalk Hospital is the main landowner in the Spring Hill neighborhood. Apart from the land where the hospital buildings are located, the hospital has more than a dozen parcels totaling about six acres in Truman, Stevens and Maple Streets, Magnolia Avenue and Rhodonolia. Education
Some of Norwalk Hospital's medical education programs are affiliated with Yale School of Medicine. The Internal Medicine Department of Medicine Residency is recognized as being of high quality with graduates continuing to practice and pursue scholarships at leading health care institutions. Many hospital doctors are involved in research designed to provide patients with new treatments. Norwalk Hospital provides a variety of clinical programs and health education classes for local groups and organizations.
The hospital has a fully accredited three-year residency program in internal medical and diagnostic radiology, a one-year assistant physician assistant program in surgery and educational opportunities in anesthesiology. The Department of Medicine is sponsoring subspecialty fellowship training programs in Gastroenterology, Nutrition, Lung, Sleep and Critical Care Care (in conjunction with Yale School of Medicine). The Lung Medicine section also sponsors a School of Respiratory Care in conjunction with Norwalk Community College.

Expansion Package
In April 2007, Norwalk Hospital announced that its main location on Maple Street will be renovated and four new medical facilities will be created, three at Norwalk and one in Georgetown, the Connecticut community that includes parts of Redding, Ridgefield, Weston and Wilton, Connecticut.. The Georgetown facility will have an area of ââ30,000 to 50,000 square feet (5,000 m 2 ).
In May 2008, the Norwalk Hospital's Health and Wellness Center opened at i.park Norwalk office park that stretches across the Norwalk-Wilton border on Route 7. Three medical practice staff, 100,000 square feet (10,000 m 2 ) room, which offers medical and health services and primary care physician offices, obstetricians/gynecologists and other specialists.
Also at Norwalk, on the corner of Maple Street and West Avenue, the hospital plans a 50,000 square foot Musculoskeletal Institute (5,000 m) to be opened in 2008. The hospital also opens another 50,000. square foot location (5,000m 2 ) for medical and office space on West Avenue.
Every web page created by the patient
The hospital became the first in the state to offer "CarePages" - a web page that patients themselves make to communicate with friends and family when they are in hospital. This service was announced by the hospital in April 2006, with a pilot program at the Birth Center for families with infants in the nursing intensive care unit (NICU). "Patients or family members can update Web pages without repeated phone calls to share their news," according to a hospital news release. "All registered guests automatically email when updates are posted, allowing patients or family members to spend less time on the phone." Laptops or other computers are available for patient use, and photo galleries can also be created.
