New Hope is a town in Marion County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,082 at the 2010 census, up from 1,043 in 2000. It is part of Chattanooga, Metropolitan Area TN-GA.

Originally known as Antioch, New Hope was founded in 1974 to avoid an annexation effort by South Pittsburg, which is largely the city's new inhabitants. The name "New Hope" is taken from a local church and a cemetery.

Geography

New Hope is located on 35Ã, Â ° 0? 0? N 85Ã, Â ° 39? 12? W (35.000112, -85.653332). The city occupies the southern edge of the U-shaped Tennessee River bend, mostly downstream from the Nickajack Dam. The city limits stretch south to the Tennessee-Alabama state line. South Pittsburg is located across the river to the west, Kimball and Jasper are located across the river to the north, and Nickajack Lake is located to the east. State Route 156 extends New Hope from east to west, connecting cities with the US 72 Routes in South Pittsburg and Interstate 24 near Haletown.
