The Movement for Justice was founded in 1995 by people around Kingsway College Student Union at the London Borough of Camden to address racism in institutional and established forms. The group faced organized fascism as well as deaths in wider detention and racism for blacks as well as travelers, refugees and asylum seekers. It is also a sister group for the American organization, The Coalition, to Defend Affirmative Action, Integration & amp; Immigrant Rights, and Fight for Equality With Any Ways In Need (BAMN). The Movement for Justice is led by members of the Revolutionary Internationalist League (RIL), a Trotskyist group.

Histori

The first group grew up after the assassination of Stephen Lawrence and the campaign that followed. The group continued its campaign for justice for racist murder and in police custody of many others including Rolan Adams, Michael Tachie-Menson,

The group took part in a demonstration to seal the headquarters of the British National Party in the area and help Youth against racism in Europe to build an anti-racist campaign through it. They also campaigned with YRE and local communities to fight off the BNP off Brick Lane.

In 1993 a Kingsway student Shah Alam was almost killed in a racist attack on Poplar, East London and they organized Justice for Shah Alam Campaign organizing parades, public meetings, press conferences and courts to racist and imprisoned.

After Brian Douglas's death they helped get Lambeth Unison (a public service union) and Kingsway College Student Union with the campaign.

The organization also concentrated on non-cooperation of the masses with the Asylum bill and in September 1995, published a pamphlet "Racial Immigration and Howard Sanctuary Bill - What it is and how to fight it". In 1995 the group organized a paint attack on Brian Mawhinney, Tory MP outside Parliament at the opening of the country and the Queen's speech, for what they saw as a deliberate use of the emotionally charged language and misinterpretation of 'the English people who are afraid of immigrants flood the country 'seen by many as an incitement to racial hatred. The group continues to oppose immigration, asylum legislation after the Labor Party took power.

After the death of Oscar Okoye, the group was attacked by Lee Jasper and Brian Paddick. Group leader Alex Olowade was fired from his job with the Lambeth Council.

In 2001 after police shot dead a man with a replica gun cigarette lighter at Brixton, the group held a demonstration. This demonstration was covered by the BBC.
