History

The name 'Chinchinim' comes from 'Chinchinath', a local god, from one of the four temples in Chinchinim. These temples are said to have been destroyed by the Portuguese in 1567 AD Another view is that temples just disappear when worshipers convert to Christianity.

A church dedicated to St. Anne was built in 1590 AD by the Jesuits. Built by contributions from the Communidade villages and neighboring villages. The church was burned during the Muslim invasion, and the church of Our Lady of Hope was built in 1627 AD, which was also burned during Maratha's invasion in 1739. Improvements were made in subsequent years. Chinchinim is also the home of the St. Sebastian Chapel, frequented by people of all faiths over the last century.

At the beginning of the 20th century, there was a great outbreak in Goa, killing many people in Chinchinim. A local doctor named Dr Miguel de Loiola Furtado or just Dotor Minglu worked tirelessly to save as much life as possible, but then the flu hit the village, and his work seemed futile. At that time, he was with the Vicar of the church, getting Lumanaria in honor of St Sebastian, where on a daily basis, a group of Chinchinim residents would take pictures of St. Sebastian to their home. and accompany him back to the church square with splendor and respect.

Flu has disappeared, and many people are rescued, while Dotor Minglu died in an epidemic, ironically, when he was the leader against it.

After his death, the Lumanirias continued, however, from the days saved for each group of Chinchinim residents, now separated by the environment, one day is reserved for Dotor Minglu's family and relatives.

Dotor Minglu is also known for his daughter and eldest son, who are the fearless writers of Goa, who haunt the Portuguese and anti-Portuguese rulers. Their works are related to Goa and how Goa is placed in the center of the Portuguese Empire.

His son Mario de Loiola Furtado carries the paper column of Manual de Rua which means 'Street Guide' which awaken and illuminate many Goan. He made the Goans aware that they were not governed by the Portuguese, but they ruled Portugal. Their voices are calculated in deciding who ruled Portugal and Portugal and the fate of the colonies.

Her daughter Leonor, or Lulita because she is known, brings journalism to new levels as far as Goans and women are concerned, with family publications, Indian Purtuguesa .

His second son, Dr Alvaro de Loiola Furtado, as the last president of Partido Indiano and as the mastermind behind Dr. Jack de Sequeira at the United Goans Party, played an important role in assuring the identity of Goa, at which time some Goans get Goa to join the neighboring Maharashtra. It is also the birthplace of Lord Querobino Rodrigues.

In the game of football, Chinchinim has produced some of the biggest sons in India.
