Harold "Hackie" Stuart Reitman , M.D. (March 29, 1950 Jersey City, NJ) is an American Jewish orthopedic surgeon, a former professional boxer, entrepreneur, author, speaker, and philanthropist. Reitman fought as a professional heavyweight while working full-time as an orthopedic surgeon, and was widely referred to as Boxing Doctor during his career.

Reitman's parents owned a gas station where his father, Phil, worked as a mechanic and his mother pumped Evelyn's gas. In the fall of 1968, Reitman entered an accelerated six-year medical program at Boston University School of Medicine. In the first year of medical school, Reitman surprised classmates and faculty by entering the 1971 New England Golden Gloves Championship in Lowell, MA as a heavyweight. Reitman won his fourth fight with a knockout and became heavyweight champion New England Golden Gloves 1971. After the title fight, Reitman was approached by Boston promoter Sam Silverman and a New York investment group who offered a $ 100,000 professional contract bonus to Reitman on condition that he leave medical school and become professional heavyweight boxer. Reitman rejected the offer and finished his studies at medical school.

Medical career
During medical school, Reitman often works as a home doctor at sporting events at Boston Garden. Professional boxing career
In 1986, Reitman's 4-year-old daughter, Rebecca, needed emergency brain surgery and was transported by air to the Mayo Clinic. Reitman made a personal oath to revive his boxing career to raise money for children's charities. Rebecca survived the surgery, and Reitman and other parents from Mayo's clinic, Ed Zbikowsky, whose son also underwent brain surgery, organized a charity card in Chicago that matched Reitman against Illinois Judge Mike Bolan in a three-round amateur bout approved by ABF. In 1988, Reitman conducted a knee operation on boxing manager and promoter Tommy Torino, a former middle class fighter. Torino agrees to take Reitman in his quest to become a professional fighter and become his manager and coach. Reitman went on to win his first three professional bouts approved. As a heavyweight, he won seven of his first nine games, including six KOs in the first two rounds. Early in his career, Reitman trained from the famous Gym Street 5 in Miami Beach, FL. Former lightweight world champion Beau Jack worked as a fitness expert and Reitman boxing mentor. When the gym was demolished in 1993, Reitman transferred his training to Gerrits Leprechaun Gym in Miami.
On February 15, 1991, with a professional record 7-1-1, Reitman competed three times in an exhibition match against five-time world champion Roberto Duran at the Hollywood Diplomat Hotel in Miami Beach. On November 11, 1991, Reitman against team heavyweight Tim Anderson for the NBA title of Independent Cruiser in a television showdown. Although Reitman scored two rounds to 9, the fight ended in a draw. In March 1992, Reitman was the 12th Heavyweight World ranker in the world according to the International Boxing Council. On December 12, 1995, in the 10-game premier scheduled match, Reitman lost to heavyweight Peter McNeeley, who had just been beaten twice in his career, with one of those defeats taking place in Mike Tyson's hands a few months earlier.
In December 2000, Reitman fought Kenny Lunkins in a 10-round main event scheduled at War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, FL. At the age of 50, Reitman is Florida's oldest active warrior state. Reitman retired from boxing in 2002 at the age of 52, with a lifelong record of 13-7-6, with 11 knockouts.
During his career, Reitman argued with over 30 world champions, including: Witherspoon Team, Michael Nunn, Trevor Berbick, Hector Macho Camacho, Macho Camacho Jr., Emile Griffith, Mike McCallum, and Pinklon Thomas.
Philanthropy
During his boxing career, Reitman donated all his fight wallets to various children's charities, including the Make A Wish Foundation, Kids In Depressed Situations, The Boys and Girls Club of Broward County, Children's Home Society, The Ann Storck Center for the Physically Disabled , St. John's Research Institute Jude Children, and others.
Reitman has been a longtime supporter and from the Boys and Girls Club, and is a Board member for Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County, serving as Chairman of the Board in 2001. Reitman donated the building at 3025 W. Broward Blvd now known as Dr. Harold 'Hackie' Reitman Unit Boys and Girls Club .

Reitman is also a partner in Milestone Apartment Developers LLP, a Colorado-based multinational. development company.

Advocacy
Reitman is a prominent advocate and Aspergers advocate, and an active writer and lecturer on the topic of neurodiversity. his non-fictional work, Aspertools: A Practical Guide to Understanding and Disturbance of Autism Spectrum Embracing Asperger and Neurodiversity, including his review of this scientific community research for nearly 40 years, and has been announced by HCI Books on April 7, 2015. In the first weeks after it was released, it rose to # 1 on the Amazon Best Sellers list in the Autism and Aspergers category.
