In Christian hamartiology, eternal sin , unforgivable sin , or unpardonable sin is a sin that God will not forgive. An eternal or unforgivable sin (blasphemy of the Holy Spirit) is defined in several parts of the Synoptic Gospels, including Mark 3: 28-29, Matthew 12: 31-32 , and Luke 12:10 .
In Roman Catholicism there are six sins that blaspheme the Holy Spirit. They are: 1. Desperate (believe that one's crime is beyond the forgiveness of God); 2. Presumption (glory without reward, ie, the hope of salvation without obeying the Commandment, or expecting forgiveness of sins without repentance); 3. Admire the good of others (grief or imitate the growth of others in virtue and perfection); 4. Refinement in sin (diligently committing a crime, and walking from sin to sin, after sufficient instruction and warning); 5. Endless disobedience (dead without confession or regret for our sins), and 6. Imitate the known truth (to argue against known points of belief, and this includes misinterpreting the parts or all the Christian faith to make it appear unwanted).

Some parts of the Bible are often interpreted as referring to an unforgivable sin:
- Matthew 12: 30-32 : "Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me is scattering, so I'm telling you, whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come. " Mark 3: 28-30 : "Verily, verily, I say unto you, All sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto the children of men: but he that blasphemeth the Holy Ghost shall never be forgiven, but is guilty of sin. that he said this because they [the Pharisees] said, 'He has an evil spirit'. "
- Luke 12: 8-10 : "I tell you, whoever confesses me before men, the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of God. and all who speak a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever blasphemes the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. "

Roman Catholics
According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, there is no limit to God's mercy, but whoever deliberately refuses to accept his mercy with repentance, rejects the remission of his sins and salvation offered by the Holy Spirit. That kind of violence can lead to endless hatred and permanent loss.
The Catholic Encyclopedia quotes Matthew 12: 22-32; Mark 3: 22-30; Luke 12:10 (see 11: 14-23) and define "unpardonable sin" - or sin against the Holy Spirit - such as:?... sinning against the Holy Spirit is to confuse Him with evil spirits, to deny, from pure hatred, divine character of real divine works. The article further states that "sin against the Son of Man" can be forgiven because it is committed against the personal man of Christ, who covers the Divine with "humble and low appearance," and therefore it can be forgiven for commitment through "human ignorance and misunderstanding."
The Fathers of the Church considered the additional interpretation, Augustine of Hippo called it one of the more difficult passages of Scripture. Thomas Aquinas summarizes the care of the Church Fathers and poses three possible explanations: 1. That an insult directed against one of the three Divine Persons can be considered a sin against the Holy Spirit; and/or 2. It persists in mortal sin until death, with final dislike, as Augustine proposes, thwarts the work of the Holy Spirit, to whom it is fitting for the forgiveness of sins; and/or 3. That the sins of the quality of the Third Divine Person, to charity and goodness, are done in envy, for they deny the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to turn away from or be freed from evil. Such sin can be considered more severe than the Father does through the fragility (the quality of the Father in power), and those who commit to fight the Son through ignorance (the quality of the Son becomes wisdom).
The list of Aquinas, or has responded, six sins considered to be contrary to the Holy Spirit:
- despair: which consists in the thought that one's hatred is greater than the Divine Good, as taught by the Sentence Teacher, presumption
- : if one wants to gain glory without merit or forgiveness without repentance
- resistance to known truths,
- envy on your spiritual goodness, ie , increase of divine grace in the world,
- irreverence, i , the specific goal of unrepentant,
- the harshness, in which a man, attached to his sin, becomes immune to the thought that the item he is looking for is very small.
Thomas Aquinas explains that the inexcusable blasphemy of the Holy Spirit means that he removes the entrance to this means of salvation; however, it can not prevent God from taking this obstacle through a miracle.
However, the Church further believes that no offense, however serious, can not be taken by Baptism, or released from Confucius - that no one, however evil and guilty, may not have been confidently expecting forgiveness. The Catechism says that Christ wants "the gate of forgiveness to be always open to anyone who turns from sin." As St. Augustine did, today's Catholic Church teaches that only death for the sins of a person is the only unforgivable sin. Indeed, in Dominum et vivificantem Pope John Paul II writes "According to such an interpretation, 'blasphemy' does not precisely consist in offending the Holy Spirit in words, it is more like a refusal to accept God's salvation offer to men through the Holy Spirit, work through the power of the Cross, "and" If Jesus says that blasphemy against the Holy Spirit can not be forgiven either in this life or in the hereafter, it is because this "no forgiveness" is related, for its cause, to "non- repentance, "in other words a radical refusal to be converted.This means a refusal to come to the source of the Atonement, which remains" always "open in the salvation economy in which the Spirit's mission is accomplished."
Protestantism
Protestant denominations and theologians have taken various approaches in defining sin against the Holy Spirit.
John Calvin menulis:
Therefore, I say that he sinned against the Holy Spirit, while being so limited by the power of divine truth that he can not ask for ignorance, but deliberately refuses, and that is only for the sake of resisting.
Similarly, Jacob Arminius defined it as "the rejection and rejection of Jesus Christ through a strong hatred and hatred of Christ". However, Arminius is different from Calvin, who believes that sin can be done by believers, a conclusion he achieved through his interpretation of Hebrews 6: 4-6.
Some modern Protestant interpretations of sin include the deliberate labeling of goodness as evil, as rejecting the conviction of the Holy Spirit, which in general associates the work of the Holy Spirit with Satan, and relates the work of Jesus to Satan (under this interpretation sin can only be done in the first century AD). For example, The United Methodist Church, founded by John Wesley, highly respects:
that the eternal separation from God without hope of reapplying in the scriptures is in only two cases - both, as in Hebrews 6 and 10, for people who are intentionally, publicly [sic] and explicitly reject Jesus as Savior after confessing, or, as in the Gospels, to those who blaspheme the Holy Spirit by declaring that Jesus' works are the works of the Devil.
According to Billy Graham, refusing to turn to God and accept his forgiveness is eternal sin.
Regardless of their interpretation, the Protestant exegetes generally agree that those who have committed sins can no longer repent, so those who fear that they have done so have not done so.
Mormonism
Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or Mormons, share a common understanding of eternal sin. Joseph Smith, founder of the Latter-day Saint movement, said in King Follet's sermon:
All sins must be forgiven, except sin against the Holy Spirit; because Jesus will save all but the children of perdition. What must man do to commit the unpardonable sin? He must receive the Holy Spirit, have heaven open to him, and know God, and then sin against him. After a person sins against the Holy Spirit, there is no repentance for him. He must say that the sun does not shine when he sees it; he must deny Jesus Christ when heaven is opened for him, and deny the plan of salvation with his eyes open to his truth; and from then on he began to become an enemy.
