Warren C. Breidenbach III (born California) is the most famous American hand surgeon for having performed the world's first successful long-term hand transplant surgery at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Surgery performed by Breidenbach and hand surgeon Tsu-Min Tsai, both of Kleinert, Kutz and Associates Hand Care Center, led a team of surgeons to attach a donor's left hand to replace New York's left hand, Matthew Scott. The Louisville hand surgery team went on to perform additional hand transplants between 1999 and 2011, when Breidenbach moved to the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona to start the Allotransplantation Composite Network center at the university health center.

Breidenbach attributes the team's success in first-hand transplants to feasibility studies and research, including medical literature review, prior to clinical procedures.

Breidenbach graduated from the University of Calgary.
