Muppet movie: Original Soundtrack Recording is a soundtrack album from the 1979 film, The Muppet Movie , featuring songs and choosing scores written by Paul Williams and Kenneth Ascher. Originally released by LP by Atlantic Records, the album reached No. 1. 32 on Billboard 200 and was awarded a Gold certificate by the Recording Industry Association of America. Soundtrack won a Grammy Award for Best Kids Album in 1980 and was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media, Golden Globe for Best Original Song, and two Academy Awards; Best Adaptation Score for the entire album and Best Original Song for "Rainbow Connection", which reached No. 1. 25 on the Hot Billboard .
After the initial release, the soundtrack album had a subsequent CD re-release by Jim Henson Records in 1993 and by Walt Disney Records on August 13, 2013. The re-release of Disney is a digital remaster, featured liner notes by Williams, and marks the first soundtrack available printed in more from 20 years.
