Properties on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage by county (Madison-Perry)

This is a list of properties in the Alabama List and Heritage List , sorted alphabetically by county. This list contains all entries for Madison County via Perry County, another list can be found here. List of Landmarks and Heritage Alabama is an official list of buildings, sites, structures, objects, and districts deemed worthy of care in the US state of Alabama.

These traits, which may be national, state, and local, are established by the Alabama History Commission, under the legislative authority of Alabama. The general criteria for inclusion in the Alabama Register include that the property is at least 40 years of age; linked to important state or local events; linked to the lives of people of the country or of local significance; is representative of the type, style, or period of architecture; or linked to Alabama's history or prehistory. It must also have the integrity of the location and construction and convey the feeling for the time and place of development.

The Alabama Register sometimes includes properties that do not meet the general criteria to be included, such as the structure being moved or reconstructed. These properties include when they have been sensitively transferred to sites that are similar to the original, perfectly suited to important original building constructions, or very important for the country.

There are about 1421 properties and districts listed in the Alabama Register. Of these, about 196 are also listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) and 5 are designated as National Historic Landmark (NHL).
