Wedding

Fiore met real estate investor Ryan Jenkins at the Las Vegas casino shortly after Jenkins completed the filming of Megan Wants a Millionaire . Two days later - March 18, 2009 - the couple married in Little White Wedding Chapel on the Las Vegas Strip. According to court records, Jenkins was indicted in June 2009 in Clark County, Nevada, with "batteries constituting domestic violence" for beating Fiore in the arm. Travis Heinrich, who was present, said Jenkins and Fiore were arguing about his friendship with Heinrich, and Jenkins hit Fiore's arm, causing him to fall into the nearest swimming pool. Jenkins will be tried in December. The couple reconciled shortly before Fiore's death and reportedly traveled to San Diego for a poker game.

Lisa Lepore, Fiore's mother, claims that the two are often fighting and Jenkins is jealous of Fiore's friends with her ex-girlfriend. And Jenkins, Ryan Jenkins's father, says that Fiore is his only childhood friend in California and that he will disappear for days at a time and lie about it to his son. In addition, Lepore told The Associated Press that his daughter had married Jenkins annulled in May 2009, but there was no record of the cancellation in Nevada, where the couple married, or Los Angeles County, where they last lived.

Fiore Death

The researchers reported that Jenkins and Fiore checked into L'Auberge's hotel in Del Mar, San Diego, on the night of August 13, 2009. They attended a poker tournament, a charity fundraiser for the Carma Foundation at the Del Mar Hilton. The surveillance video taken by Fiore and Jenkins leaves the Hilton at about 2:30 am on August 14th. The couple was later spotted at the Ivy Hotel, a nightclub in downtown San Diego. At about 4:30 am, Jenkins returned to L'Auberge hotel alone. Fiore does not look back on life. Jenkins left L'Auberge hotel around 9 am that day.

The bodies of Fiore were found, but not identified, on August 15 at around 7:00 am, beaten and crushed in a suitcase in a trash can in an alley in Buena Park, California. According to Buena Park police, Fiore's teeth and fingers had been removed before his bare body was put into the suitcase. He was also strangled. Authorities believe that mutilation is an attempt to block identification. On August 18, his body was identified using his breast implant serial number. The Orange County coroner's office reported Fiore had died several hours before his body was found. Fiore's white Mercedes was found abandoned in a parking lot in West Hollywood, about a mile from Fiore penthouse with Jenkins in Fairfax District, Los Angeles. The police reported that there was a large amount of blood, and some evidence pulled hair.

Jenkins reported Fiore missing on August 15 at 8:55. He told police he last saw Fiore around 8:30 am. August 14 at their home on Edinburgh Avenue, Los Angeles. Jenkins Movement after Fiore's death

At about 9 am on August 16, 2009, a day after Fiore reported missing and after spending some time packing, Jenkins was seen leaving their penthouse for the last time. Police said he later left Los Angeles and went to Nevada to pick up his speedboat. On August 17, when contacted by police, Jenkins said he was in Utah and headed to Canada to resolve some immigration issues. On August 18, Fiore's body was identified and murder was first reported. On the afternoon of August 19, Jenkins called his father from Birch Bay, who informed him that Fiore had been found murdered.

Whatcom County Sheriff's Department received a witness report about the black BMW Jenkins SUV that pulled the ship to the Canadian-US border. Police later found a BMW SUV and empty boat trailer at the marina in Blaine, Washington; the engine is still warm. At that time Jenkins was only interested in the investigation. He has not been prosecuted, but the Canadian authorities have been warned to keep an eye on him. The US Coast Guard and US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have confirmed they have ships patrolling the waters of Washington's northwest looking for Jenkins as early as August 19. Initial media reports were that the US Coast Guard and Canadian government chased Jenkins' speedboats as they crossed into Point Roberts, but officials later denied these reports.

On August 19, a man who matched Jenkins's description was seen steering his boat to the marina at Point Roberts, where Jenkins's stepmother lived. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) announced that they believe Jenkins crossed into Canada between August 19 and August 20.

On August 20, Jenkins was indicted for Fiore's killing and an arrest warrant was issued. Also on August 20, Jenkins called his father, who was detained at the airport, but his father had to hang up.

Jenkins committed suicide

Around 6 pm on Aug. 20, Jenkins arrived at a silver PT Cruiser with a blond young woman at the Thunderbird Motel in Hope, British Columbia, Canada. The car has an Alberta license plate. They stopped beside the dumpster instead of beside the room, which the motel manager thought was strange. Jenkins stays in the car while a young woman pays cash for a three night accommodation. The manager described the woman as attractive, about 25 to 30 years old, and very calm, making small talk when applying. The guest in the next room said the woman stayed for about 20 minutes with Jenkins in Room 2 and then left the motel. The woman proved Jenkins's half-brother, Alena Jenkins. The manager saw Jenkins walking outside the motel the next day, August 21st. The manager said Jenkins looked exhausted and unidentifiable from his picture on television.

At 11:30 am on August 23, the couple failed to check it out. After seeing very little activity over the weekend, the motel manager and his niece decided to check out the room. Jenkins was found dead, apparently committed suicide; his body hung from a clothing rack with a belt. No suicide notes were found at the motel. Police found a one-page suicide note kept on Jenkins's computer called "Last Will and Testament" and dated August 20, 2009.

On August 27, 2009, investigators discovered a storage unit full of Jenkins belongings, including a suitcase, in Washington state.

Reaction by VH1

Following the announcement that Jenkins was connected to Fiore's murder, VH1 placed Megan Wants a Millionaire in an unlimited hiatus to honor the Fiore family. It also removed the show page from VH1's official website and dropped reruns of previous shows from the schedule. This removes archived episodes of archives from the iTunes Store and cable videos on demand services, leading to speculation that the show will never run again. It later emerged that Jenkins was not only accused of attacking Fiore, but had been convicted two years earlier for attacking a woman in Calgary. The last incident has not been disclosed to VH1 or Megan Wants a Millionaire producer 51 Minds. In a statement, 51 Minds said that it would not let Jenkins on the show be known about the 2007 incident.

51 Thoughts have hired Collective Intelligence, a private investigation firm, to conduct background checks on Jenkins and other contestants. Collective Intelligence does not conduct background checks outside the United States, and outsources Jenkins's inspection of the Canadian company, Straightline International. In 2009, Collective Intelligence sued Straightline for breach of contract. The lawsuit alleges that Straightline has wrongly told Collective Intelligence that Jenkins's records are clean, and has also failed to check Jenkins against the RCMP criminal database. Collective Intelligence claims to have lost valuable business from Viacom (owner of VH1), NBC and ABC as a result of damage to its reputation. The lawsuit is still waiting until 2013.

The day after Jenkins's death, VH1 officially announced the show was canceled, and that it would not run the third season of I Love Money, which Jenkins reportedly won. But this can not be determined, because a Minds 51 spokesman said Jenkins was trying to get his $ 5,200 honor check a few days before Fiore's body was found.
