" Snuff " is a power ballad by the American metal band Slipknot. Released as the fifth single from their fourth album All Hope Is Gone on September 28, 2009, the song was charted at number two on the Billboard Hotstream Rock Tracks chart, the highest single-to- date, exceeding "Dead Memories". It was not included in the All Hope Is Gone World Tour setlist but the band performed the song live on October 11, 2009 in Kennewick, Washington.
Roadrunner Records puts "Snuff" at number 6 for the greatest music video of all time. The song was also nominated for Best Single at Kerrang! Awards 2010, but lost to "Liquid Confidence" by You Me at Six.
This is the last single released from the band before the death of their bassist, Paul Gray who died just eight months after its release, and also the release of the last single before Joey Jordison left the band four years later. During the recent solo acoustic performances, Corey Taylor has performed an acoustic version of "Snuff" as a tribute to Paul Gray.
"Snuff", "Wait and Bleed", "Left Behind" and "Pulse of the Maggots" were released as a downloadable song in the Rock Band series.

"It's a slow one, this is another personal, again, not a naming name, it's about someone who helps me a lot and I think he feels the same way as I do and then he really disappoints me.At the same time, it's good that he did, because it was the last push for me to find out for myself The lyrics are pretty clear. "- Corey Taylor
"Corey does not actually write music for Slipknot - but, when he comes to hear the songs of Paul [Gray, bassist] and I'm working on it for All Hope Has Been Missed , he showed me this... I told him to put the initial track in the studio, then I went in late at night, without telling him, and put some drums... When he heard it the next day, he started crying. This is Corey's masterpiece. "- Joey Jordison

Music video
Announced on October 14, 2009 by Roadrunner Records that a music video that fits the production quality is sufficient to be considered short films will be released for "Snuff", which aired on December 18, 2009 at 11:09 PM CST. The film was directed by Shawn "Clown" Crahan and P. R. Brown, and featured Malcolm McDowell and Ashley Laurence of Hellraiser fame. Corey Taylor looks for the third time in a Slipknot video without his mask (the other two times: "Memories Deadly" and "Before I Forgot") and are dressed in a short cross at the end of the short film.
The video is about a man (played by Corey Taylor) who has broken up with his girlfriend, but is totally obsessed with it. The man walked into her apartment, smelling the scent. She then watched on the recording television that she and the woman made, and then fainted into her bed. As she walks out the door, she does not notice the man lying on her bed. The man then dives after him, but he's gone to visit the neighbors. Log back in, she sat down at the table and held the wine glasses she was drinking from. Glass broke in his hand and the man became angry, threw everything around and screamed. The video ends with the man crossing over as a former dress and coming out of the corridor, revealing it is the person who has been out of the apartment and not the female; officer, did not see the difference, walked back along the corridor while whistling the song.
