Floyd Medical Center (originally Floyd Hospital) is a healthcare provider system serving Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama since 1942. Located in Rome, Ga., it is the largest Floyd County company with more than 2,000 employees.
Floyd and its affiliates are now operated by Floyd Healthcare Management Inc. The Floyd family of healthcare services provides a full spectrum of health care services from the prenatal birthing class to a support group of sadness through Heyman HospiceCare in Floyd. More than 2,000 babies are born in Floyd every year and treated in one of three nurseries, including neonatal intensive care for babies as small as two pounds.
It is home to a nationally designated Trauma Center, behavioral care center, primary care and emergency service provider network. It also hosts outpatient services, including Floyd County Clinic surgery and related pharmacies for uninsured patients who can not afford health care.
Floyd Medical Center is the main Stroke Center recognized by the Joint Commission with a gold approval seal that shows Floyd has an important element for achieving long-term success in improving stroke outcomes. Floyd is one of only a few hospitals in Georgia recognized as a Primary Stroke Center.

History
Led by Dr. W.H. Lewis, built by local labor and funded by Floyd County residents, later called Floyd Hospital opened on July 4, 1942.
Currently, Floyd serves six counties as a 317-acute acute care hospital and a regional referral center with over 400,000 patients meeting annually.
