Central Baptist Church (Honolulu, HI) is the Southern Baptist Church in the Makiki neighborhood of Honolulu.

History

Central Baptist Church was established on April 1, 1951. In 1971, the Baptist primary school of Hawaii shared a building with the Central Baptist Church until it was acquired and moved to the former Heart of Nuuanu in 1987.

Hawaiian Baptist leader Daniel Hen Chong Kong, pastor Central Baptist Church during his final years until his retirement in December 2004.

Shane Sowers serves as Senior Pastor from 2008-2017. Nelson Chapman serves as Senior Pastor today in October 2017

Teach Confidence

On February 8, 2009, the current Baptist Faith and Message unanimously chose to replace the 1963 version as an article of church faith in the Church Constitution.
