History

Formation and early days (1988-1995) /h3>

The Bloodhound Gang started in 1988 as a small alternative band called Bang Chamber 8. It consists of James Moyer Franks and Michael Bowe, both graduates of Perkiomen Valley High School. They released eponymous recordings in 1990 before changing their name to Bloodhound Gang the following year, a reference to "The Bloodhound Gang", a segment on the PBS children's show of the 1980s 3-2-1 Contact which features three young detectives who solve mysteries and fight crime. Franks and Bowe also took the stage name "Jimmy Pop Ali" ("Ali" then dropped) and "Daddy Long Legs" respectively.

Jimmy Pop and Jared Hennegan both studied at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Unable to book performances elsewhere, the Bloodhound Gang first appeared in an additional room at Hennegan's house, in exchange for Schlitz, Marlboros, and a chance to share their first demo tape, titled Just Another Demo. When the floor collapses in one night, they start performing every month at CBGB in New York City. When asked about the band's tenure at the club, Jimmy Pop was quoted as saying, "I've seen cavemen with better clubs."

In April 1994, the band released their second demo tape, The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack for Hitler's Handicapped Helpers . This resulted in a recording deal with Cheese Factory Records.

In the summer of 1994, Jimmy Pop had a small role in the short independent film The Chick That Was Naked by independent filmmaker Kurt Fitzpatrick. A song by the band is used on the soundtrack.

In November 1994, Bloodhound Gang released their first EP, Dingleberry Haze .

Use your Fingers (1995)

In March 1995, Bloodhound Gang signed a recording contract with Columbia Records. They released their first full-length album, titled Use Your Fingers . They started touring the United States. Currently, Daddy Long Legs and M.S.G. (Matthew Clarke), angered by Columbia Records, left the band to form another rap group, Wolfpac. Hennegan's bassist and turntablist Tard-E-Tard joined the group as a replacement, with Hennegan taking the stage name "Evil Jared Hasselhoff". When the tour ended, an agreement with Columbia Records was canceled and band members Skip O'Pot2Mus (Scott Richard) and Tard-E-Tard went to pursue careers outside the music industry.

One Fierce Beer Coaster (1996- 1997)

In March 1996, the band, complete with a new line-up, recorded their second full-length album, One Fierce Beer Coaster , with Richard Gavalis, producer and owner of Dome Sound Studios, in Royersford, Pennsylvania, local to Jimmy Pop. Lupus Thunder has recorded with Rich at the Dome with his former band, and introduced Jimmy Pop to Rich, which is the first studio in the Pennsylvania area to embrace computer recordings and can edit live instruments in ways other studios can not. This led to the relationship being followed up to the band's next album. One Fierce Beer Coaster was first released on Cheese Factory Records (now Republic Records). The original release, designed by Michael Calleia at Design Strength Industries in New York City, has an actual coaster beer as part of the packaging.

The album's main single, "Fire Water Burn", played a major role in building a slow interest that eventually led to the band's mainstream breakthrough. Because the band had previously been unable to afford national tours, they promoted themselves by sending their music to radio stations across the country in accordance with alternative rock formats. A significant initial radio breakthrough came when the apprenticeship at 107.7 The end in Seattle brought the band to the attention of the music director who, likes what he heard, played "Fire Water Burn" on his Friday night show. This feature encourages the flood of phone calls asking about songs and bands. The director gave the song to his friend, music director at KROQ-FM in Los Angeles, who then added it to the playlist. The snowball effect made the band overwhelmed with demands for their records that they struggled to meet. Record label then starts calling. According to manager Brett Alperowitz in an interview with HitQuarters, the label Madonna Maverick "really wants to sign the band in the worst possible way, even to the point where I have to tell Madonna that I can not put her on the phone with Jimmy Pop." Finally Gang Bloodhound was signed with Geffen Records, re-releasing One Fierce Beer Coaster in December 1996. They also embarked on their first "real tour" of the United States and Europe, including a presentation on Loveline >, Howard Stern Show , Ricki Lake and The Jenny McCarthy Show . After several years of performing, utilizing the Internet, spreading the news through retail and radio in every way the band and management could be on an independent level, they started to experience great success.

Hooray for Boobies (1998-2000 )

On October 4, 1999, they released their third album, Hooray for Boobies , in Europe; due to legal issues, his release was postponed until February 29, 2000 in the US. The album was recorded in California, where band and their engineer, Rich Gavalis moved. The album was recorded partly in a leased Los Angeles band studio, and partly at Rich Gavalis's home in "The Valley". Supported by the hit single "The Bad Touch", they embarked on two more tours in Europe, where their popularity has increased dramatically ("The Bad Touch" and "Hooray for Boobies" reached No. 1 in Germany, where "Along Comes Mary" is also a top 10 hit). They returned after selling more than five million albums.

In 2003, the band released a DVD titled One Fierce Beer Run , which recounted their 1997 One Fierce Beer Coaster tour.

Hefty Fine (2004-2007)

The band's album, Hefty Fine, was released on September 13, 2005. The title comes after Evil Jared Hasselhoff was fined during his work on MTV Viva La Bam The Scavenger Hunt episode. Jared was fined $ 10,000, which according to Jimmy Pop had to be paid (as discussed in "Un-comments" from the DVD release of Viva La Bam ). Jimmy has stated that Jared was arrested after trying to urinate into a dixie cup that he (Jim) holds, from the top of the parking lot. The original CD title, Heavy Flow , was canceled when it was learned that fellow Moby musicians had a song of the same name. The first single, "Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo", gets heavy rotation on the music video channel. Although the song "No Hard Feelings" was recently split into Modern Rock Top 50, their second single "Uhn Tiss Uhn Tiss Uhn Tiss" (featured in Blaupunkt, BGL Grand Wizard commercial) has started a radio circulation with limited-screen video music on some music channels. Other songs from this album are part of a campaign by Bloodhound Gang to alter the Pennsylvania anthem properly titled "Pennsylvania" (often wrongly believed to be titled "Do You Even Know What Is Wawa Is?", From that last song) as well as "Something Diabolical", featuring Ville Valo from HIM.

In 2007, the band recorded one, "Sleeping You on the Beach at Night", which was accompanied by a video based on one for Chris Isaak's song "Wicked Game".

Hard-Off > and current status (2008-present)

In October 2008, Lupus Thunder quit the band. The band says he has decided to no longer tour with them. Lupus previously claimed to be a group whiner and argued with the band while vowing not to leave the band. Daniel P. Carter of A is confirmed as the new lead guitarist. Carter has since played a show like the Soundwave Festival with the band. Jimmy Pop announced during a radio interview in Boston that the band was working on a new album, featuring about 10 to 12 songs. Many media reports that the album's name is Live on the School Bus with the 2012 release date. On December 4, 2011, Jimmy Pop announced that he "has just narrowed the 25-30 demo to 10-12 to complete".

In late 2010, the band released a new song entitled "Overall Ooky". On November 15th, DJ Q-Ball was mentioned on his Facebook page that the band will go to Berlin to record a music video for the song, which will also be included in the greatest hit compilation album. The biggest hits album, Show Us Your Hits , was released on December 21st, featuring new songs "Overall Ooky" and an English version of Die Atzen's "Disco Pogo", alongside old songs. In an interview in 2011, Evil Jared stated that the new album will be released in 2012 or 2013. Q-Ball also mentioned on Twitter that the signs indicate either late 2012 or early 2013 as for release, and that the album was "moving with very good "as well as claiming that it is their best album to date. The second music video was also released to "Tap on the Beach at Night", featuring a band playing in a small room while porn stars Till Kraemer and Leonie Saint had sex in the middle of the room. At the end of the video, Kraemer ejaculates in the hands of Jimmy Pop, after which he rubs the semen through his hair. The video was filmed in 2007, but was not released until 2010.

In February 2014, Jimmy Pop wrote on Twitter that he recorded daily vocals for the album. On August 8th, a new single titled "Chew Toy" was announced, along with a pre-order from vinyl with the release date of August 19th. This song was uploaded to YouTube later that day. "American Bitches" was released in the band's YouTube account October 20, with a vinyl release date ending December 2014. "Dimes" was released on February 24th. "Clean Up In Aisle Sexy" was released May 12 along with remixes by Mike Emilio, MIKE Push, and Psyko Punkz. In September 2015, the seventh single from the album titled "Uncool as Me" featuring Joey Fatone and a new wave style, was released. The pre-order for the album starts in October 2015 with a release window beginning in December. The album, titled Hard-Off , was released on December 18, 2015.

In July 2016, MVD Audio republished Hooray for Boobies on the blue vinyl. One Fierce Beer Coaster followed on yellow vinyl in September. Both releases are limited to 1,500 copies.

In an interview with the German website KinKats on March 4, 2017, Hasselhoff stated that the Bloodhound Gang will only reform and tour if President Donald Trump leaves office.

Controversy

"Yellow Fever" and anti-Asian allegations

Geffen Records refused to release the song "Yellow Fever" because of its lyrical lyrical content about Asian women. The lyrical example of "Yellow Fever" includes "like an oriental rug" because I put it where I like, then I close my eyes with dental floss and kneel "and" Oh I am Chinky, he is very curly, makes me hot like Nagasaki, burns like napalm exploded like bombs. "In response, Jimmy Pop told Yahoo! Launch that the song's lyrical song was not meant to be taken seriously.

On stage expertise

The band caused controversy in 2006 when they started using "golden bath" acting on stage during the rendition of Depeche Mode "Enjoy the Silence" in Rock am Ring and Pinkpop.

On July 30, 2013, during a concert in Kiev, Ukraine, band member Jared Hasselhoff was seen urinating on the Ukrainian flag while on stage. The incident angered local politicians, and the band faced criminal charges of hooliganism. A few days later, after a stage action involving the Russian flag in Odessa, where Hasselhoff put a flag to the front of his trousers and pulled him out from behind, a band show in Anapa, Russia was canceled and band members were attacked at the airport, including pelted eggs and rotten tomatoes. The flag of the United States was also stepped on and spat on.

Vladimir Markin from the Russian Investigation Committee said his department is ready to file criminal charges if prosecutors think they have a case. Although Jared Hasselhoff apologized publicly for defamation of Russian state symbols, the band was forced to cancel their Russia immediately and their visas were quickly canceled. On August 3, 2013, they left Russia via Sheremetyevo International Airport, failing to return the cash advance they received for the Anapa show they had never played.
