Tema dan gaya musik

The Know Hope Collective as a whole has been described by Stuart and McGinniss, as "an ever-changing group of musicians from different backgrounds who come together to create worship music while sharing their unique experiences and testimonies." Stuart further describes it as "driven from an emerging worship style and a place of vulnerability. We travel together through the good, bad and bad side to the redemptive side."

The album itself has been called "an intimate couple of songs and spoken words that envelop the depths of McGinniss and Stuart's glorious songs and post-band expression" in which "Stuart speaks more now than he sings." Cross Rhythms has declared a common theme as "part of a much broader presentation of stories and artistic expressions, inspired by the vulnerability experienced in sharing life experiences and God's hands in them." According to Stuart, "This first project was born from a failure I experienced as a singer losing his voice, but the next one might be in a misitional life, orphan care or clean water, whatever God shows us."

Style

The album's music style has been labeled as worship music, with the band's sound in classic and alternative rock mode, "somewhat reminiscent of U2 and Evanescence."

Reception

Know Hope Collective received a good reception from critics. Allmusic gave the album a three and a half star out of five, stating that "this may be the first album by Know Hope Collective, but it has been made by veterans in the CCM/Christian rock scene, and it sounds like it." Christianity Today gave the album three stars, noting that " [Know Hope Collective] explores the theme of destruction and restoration, but its music lacks lyrical vulnerability, and a more authentic sound would be better for the intended intimate atmosphere. " Other reviewers are more generous, like Cross Rhythms, who gives the eight-box album out of ten saying that while "not all songs are stretching the lyrics and can sometimes go a little deeper...... they're honest and sincere." Jesus Freak Hideout gave this album four out of five, and the online Christian music community New Release Tuesday gave the album five stars full in its staff review.

In addition to the overall recording of the album, the second single album to be released, "Build Us Back," was originally recorded by Newsboys, and featured as an online download of the Gospel Music Channel of the Week.
